The Sentinel Software Group (SSG) was founded in 2006 in to address information technology needs identified in the public safety space. Specifically, there were no solutions commercially available to identify crime patterns in real time. In response, SSG has developed the VAIL technology suite.
Michael L. Newnham
Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Newnham has been involved in I.T and software development for over 15 years and has held technical management and software architecture responsibilities. He has been engaged as a consultant, system architect and project manager for software product development and custom integration projects and a variety of business verticals.
Mr. Newnham has great breadth and depth of experience in successfully applying modern software architecture and IT technologies with specific expertise in distributed applications, service oriented architectures and enterprise class applications. He has built and lead medium sized IT organizations tasked with developing then supporting solutions in production.
He has played lead technical architect roles on several complex, mission-critical systems integration projects including the New York City Police Department (NYPD) Real Time Crime Center and a custom Enterprise Resource Planning system in the Insurance vertical. In addition, Mr. Newnham has been a founding software architect on several commercial software and technology product start-ups.
Richard M. Perine, PMP, CSM
Chief Technology Officer
Mr. Perine served for twenty years with the New York City Police Department (NYPD), helping to reshape technology within the NYPD by being appointed to the Technology Reengineering Committee. He managed multi-million dollar technology projects while serving under the NYPD Chief Information Officer and was the Project Manager for the NYPD’s new high-tech Real Time Crime Center, which opened in 2005 and a multi-million dollar enterprise case management system for Organized Crime.. He has performed as consultant, system architect, and lead developer for both private and publicly held companies. Mr. Perine has developed Incident Management Systems, Commercial “Off the Shelf” software and esoteric research based applications. He has led small IT based product companies in the role as Chief Technology Officer and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Perine has architected public safety IT solutions which are presently deployed for Major League Baseball and the National Football League. Mr. Perine drove the development of new technologies as CTO of a publically traded company in 2006.
In 2007, Mr. Perine was selected by the NYPD to manage the buildout of the Lower Manhattan Security Initiative. This program was focused on counter-terrorism technologies within New York City.
